Established
in 1981 by Roger K. Deaner and Carolyn J. Barratt, LeaderVision
has been in continual operation and expansion ever since.
It was originally created as a business consultancy with the
aim of assisting professionals and smaller companies to stay
in business by using some of the principles of ultra successful
big business.
Through these consultancies
the founders quickly realised that there was a real shortage
of advanced quality training programs and courses designed
for business owners, professionals of all sorts and leaders
of teams and organisations. While continuing with the consultancy
arm, the company began to develop a series of diverse training
programs for business professionals.
It also became apparent that
an enduring transfer of these business skills was best achieved
by equipping the students with a sound understanding of human
behaviour, communication and linguistics. This was realised
through teaching Neuro-Linguistic Programming and enhanced
by the addition of the advanced organisational model, Spiral
Dynamics integral.
LeaderVision’s students
find that these teachings take them on a journey of self discovery
as well as giving them powerful and dynamic skills to communicate,
interact and understand individuals, organisations and society.
The application of these skills to any field of human endeavour
accelerates the achievement of excellence and means that the
courses have drawn students from a diverse range of professions
including business leaders and managers, scientists, engineers,
miners, farmers, land owners, musicians, artists, writers,
sports people, actors, teachers, lawyers, coaches, therapists
and health industry workers.
It is however the application
of these skills to business that creates the greatest impact
and many corporate students have found that the courses have
accelerated their capacity for excellence and leadership.
For them this has opened up a whole new world of opportunity.
It is this natural synergy between the teachings of NLP and
business that has made LeaderVision’s courses very popular
and relevant to the corporate market.
In 2004 Carolyn and Roger teamed up with Barbara and Alistair Wait of In Tandem Ltd, John Cook of 5 deep Limited and Rita Papadakis of The Holon Business Group Pty Ltd to form The Organisational Development Group Ltd. It is this company, TODG, incorporated in New Zealand, and marketed internationally, who in future will be providing a range of courses based on the applications of NLP combined with Spiral Dynamics integral.
As fore-runners in the teaching
of NLP in Australia in the late 80’s and early 90’s,
Leadervision has been delighted by the popularity and expansion
of interest in NLP today. The large number of trainers and
life coaches now teaching applications of NLP and the integration
of NLP into business has been encouraging. Of concern however
has been the tendency for some trainers to present NLP as
a quick fix which can be learnt in very short courses. The
difficulty is one which is fully appreciated by the directors
of LeaderVision. There is a great temptation to bow to the
demands of the public and offer courses which are easy to
digest and don’t take up too much time. However to really
learn NLP well, so that its wide ranging applications are
available to you every minute of every day – on an unconscious
level – NLP must be generic and learned epistemologically and for
maximum behavioural flexibility – and this does take
time. It’s the old principle of spending time to save
time. If you really want to gain the immense advantages that
come from applying NLP to the specific needs and requirements
of your own life then it is worth taking the time to do it
well. It is LeaderVision’s total commitment to excellence
in teaching enduring and comprehensive skills that sets its
programs apart from those of most other training organisations
in Australia.
