The Integral approach is inclusive, balanced, and comprehensive, taking into account all aspects of an organisation.   is applicable to any human being, team and organisation dealing with the challenges of leadership, organisational development and sustainability. More importantly, i t is a model that can be applied uniquely and simply to assist in the successful transformation of an organisation.

Based on the work of Ken Wilbur, it was created by a cross cultural comparison of most of the known forms of human enquiry.   The resulting model can be thought of as a map of human capacities.

By learning to use this “map” a thinker can fairly easily adopt a more comprehensive, effective, and integrally informed approach to specific problems and their solutions.

Human beings show a capacity for development that tends to unfold in various predictable stages – just as an acorn can grow to an oak tree. These stages include cognitive development, moral development, interpersonal development and so on.

An Integral approach simply includes as many of these stages of development as possible because they would appear to be operating universally for people in any context. It seem crucial therefore to take these stages into account in any comprehensive or integral approach to leadership and problem solving.

People also have different types and states of awareness - a masculine or feminine viewpoint is a simple example. More complex examples may include the complex levels of consciousness required of an executive to synthesise many different values systems into coherent and meaningful wholes.

An Integral approach acknowledges that there might be different types or ways of looking at a problem, and different possible solutions. We are not simply trying to offer one methodology, technology or skill set and force it onto others as the “only way”.
 
Using an Integral approach simply asks you to take all the known potentials into account when analysing why and how human beings act as they do. Taking them into account will give you a much more accurate map of the terrain you are trying to address.
